Unemployment Regulation of the Dutch Universities Exceeding the Statutory Minimum(BWNU)

Since December 1999 the universities have had their own arrangements governing unemployment, sickness and disability, and sickness costs. Agreements on social security are not set out in the CLA booklet, but in separate annexes.


If University staff become unemployed they can claim unemployment benefit and, potentially, supplementary unemployment benefit. The arrangements are set out in the Unemployment Regulation.
