Connecting the brightest minds in brain and technology
Neurotechnology is an important emerging field of science, bridging our understanding of the brain with the possibilities offered by new technologies. NeurotechEU is the European University of Brain and Technology, the European Universities Alliance focusing on this theme and educating the next generation of students, academics, and professionals.
Our graduates and academics are building technologies that address neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s, design chips inspired by the human brain, and help develop new AI-systems. Technologies like these, developed for or inspired by the brain, are crucial for a healthy and competitive Europe.
NeurotechEU is building an ecosystem that brings together universities, industry, society, and other stakeholders around the theme of neurotechnology. We are doing this, amongst others, through:
- The European Master’s in Neurotechnology, starting in 2027, delivered by seven degree handling universities in parallel.
- The NeurotechEU Doctoral Network, forming a community of neurotechnology specialists around Europe.
- Our NeurotechEU Museum of Brain and Technology, providing a digital space for neuroscience teaching for all ages.
NeurotechEU has deeply impacted the development of neuroscience- and technology teaching and research at all our universities. Our universities have set up centres and departments on topics of the brain, society, and technology that have benefitted greatly from the options and expertise available in the alliance. In this way, NeurotechEU has not only resulted in new programmes and activities, but also in a deep institutional transformation that has affected all partner universities.
José Sanders, Rector Magnificus 'The NeurotechEU Alliance is incredibly important for Radboud University. It’s a great platform for deep collaboration with other universities across Europe and it has given us a way to share our strengths in neuroscience with Europe.'
