Rhea van der Dong

Rhea van der Dong leads the University-Trained Teachers programme of the Interuniversity Committee for Teacher Training (ICL) and Universiteiten van Nederland. She coordinates projects and is involved in various national studies into university teacher-training programmes and teacher policy, some of which are the result of the joint Universiteiten van Nederland/ICL Action Plan for primary and secondary education. He responsibilities include the accreditation of university teacher-training programmes, the Move Into Teaching covenant (to incentivise lateral-entry teachers and those looking to retrain) and the system of competences.

 

Rhea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Culture Studies and a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Policy from Utrecht University. During her studies, she actively took part in decision-making and was involved in various Utrecht University teaching studies. Following her graduation, Rhea chaired the Dutch National Student Association (ISO) for a year, where her responsibilities included acting as a spokesperson and helping to shape the quality agreements accord. Before Rhea joined Universiteiten van Nederland/ICL, she spent half a year at Utrecht University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine as project secretary of a task force working on a new organisational structure for the faculty.
