Josephine Verstappen
Josephine Verstappen (b. 1991) is a policy advisor for educational innovation with ICT at the Universiteiten van Nederland. Her primary focus is on the acceleration plan for innovation in education, a joint initiative with the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (Vereniging Hogescholen) and SURF to further promote educational innovation at educational institutions. In her role on the programme team, Josephine supports the team leaders from the various zones and handles coordination with the steering group. She also facilitates exchange between the different zones within the acceleration plan.
Josephine studied Education and Political Science at Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam. During her studies, she was actively involved in student representation initiatives and wrote plans to further improve the tutoring and labour market orientation programmes. She completed her work placement at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Netherlands Court of Audit. After graduating, Josephine served as a board member of LSVb, where she managed portfolios for educational quality and internationalisation. Following a year on the board, she then became an LDE trainee, holding roles such as organisational consultant, lecturer and education policy officer.
