Anno Bunnik
Anno Bunnik is Programme Manager for The Digital Society and point of contact for Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives. In the Digital Society research programme, the Dutch universities are working together to give the Netherlands a new and appealing international profile: that of a leading nation in the field of people-oriented information technology. Our country can transform itself into a living ‘testing ground’, enabling a rapid exploration of how we can optimally tailor new technology to suit the needs of individual citizens and society as a whole. Research plays a key role in this approach. A master plan of this type for the new ‘digital society’ will give the Netherlands major social, scientific and economic opportunities.
Alongside his role at the VSNU, Anno is a researcher at the University of Groningen, Campus Fryslân, where he is examining the impact of Big Data and digitisation on law enforcement agencies. Anno previously studied at Utrecht University and King’s College London. He has also worked for various think tanks and published articles on politics and security for newspapers and online media.
