Nettie Buitelaar appointed managing director of Biotech Booster

As per December 1, 2022, Nettie Buitelaar started as managing director of Biotech Booster. Biotech Booster was awarded almost €250M by the National Growth Fund last April, to accelerate the translation of biotech knowledge to the market and society.

 

The parties behind Biotech Booster (Universiteiten van Nederland, de Nederlandse Federatie van Universitair Medische Centra, de Vereniging Hogescholen, HollandBIO, DSM and Janssen) were unanimous in their selection of Nettie Buitelaar and are pleased with her appointment.

 

Annemiek Verkamman, director HollandBIO: “We are very happy with the choice for Nettie Buitelaar. She has the optimal mix of experience in science, entrepreneurship and public-private collaboration projects required to develop Biotech Booster successfully”.

 

Pieter Duisenberg, president Universities of the Netherlands: “Nettie Buitelaar, with her enthousiasm and energy, is the right person to make Biotech Booster thrive.”

 

Nettie Buitelaar: “I feel very honoured that the Dutch biotech sector trusts me with this important project. Nettie Buitelaar has spent her whole career in biotech. The last years as entrepreneur/Chief Business Officer for BiosanaPharma BV in Leiden, active in the ‘low-cost, high-quality’ production of monoclonal antibodies and focusing on the upcoming market of biosimilars. Before that she was the director of Leiden Bio Science Park foundation; the science park took off a growth spurt under her supervision and has meanwhile developed into the largest and leading life science cluster in the Netherlands.
