Ratio of permanent to temporary staff

Professors and associate professors are rarely employed on a temporary basis: in 2021 for 7% and 5% respectively, based on the number of persons. Based on the size of FTEs, it is 4% for both positions. People in these positions are usually permanent employees. This also applies to the support and management personnel (OBP).

PhD-students in the Netherlands are actually not students but staffmembers, be it with non-permanent contracts.

Researchers mainly consist of Post-docs, also a group that consist of non-permanent contracts.

The visual shows the proportion of academic staff on temporary contracts. It is possible to change the view from persons to fte.
