Degree certificates

The number of diplomas obtained are counted over a complete academic year (from 1 September to 31 August). The 2020/21 academic year is therefore the most recently available year.

44,530 bachelor's degrees were awarded during the 2020/21 academic year. This is more than 5,000 (12.4%) more than in the previous year. Most bachelor's degrees were awarded for programs belonging to the Behavior and Society sector.

During the 2020/21 academic year, 53,467 master's degrees were awarded. We also see a sharp increase there: this is almost 6,000 (12.3%) more than the year earlier. Most master's degrees were awarded in the sector Economics and the sector Behavior and Society.

The increase in the number of diplomas is mainly due to the increase in the intake of bachelor's and master's programmes in previous years.

In 2011, there was the threat of the slow study measure. In the 2011/'12 academic year, this meant that more students than expected completed their studies in both the bachelor's and master's programmes.
